The Three Main Screens

JotNot has a new user interface made up of three main screens: the Document List, Page List, and the Photo View.  When you launch JotNot the first screen you see is the Document List.

From the Document List screen you can create a new document, delete an existing document by swiping, or access JotNot’s settings. Tapping on any of the listed documents takes you to the Page List screen.  This is what the Page List screen looks like:

From the Page List screen you can:

  • append a new page to the document by tapping  or ,
  • delete an existing page by swiping,
  • reorder the pages of the document by tapping Edit,
  • change the name of the document by clicking ,
  • email or push the document to Evernote or WebDAV by clicking .

All the options available on this screen use the entire document (for example you can choose to email entire document as a PDF).  Clicking on any of the listed pages takes you to the Photo View screen.  This is what the Photo View screen looks like:

The Photo View Screen

In the Photo View screen you can pinch to zoom in or out.  You can flick left or right to browse through the pages.  A single tap will bring up the controls.  When the controls are visible you in the Photo View screen you can:

  • delete the current page by tapping ,
  • email, save, or push the current page to the cloud by clicking ,
  • process or reprocess the current page by tapping ,
  • insert a new page to the document by tapping  or ,
  • or view thumbnails of the whole document by clicking See All.

All the options available on this screen use only the current page (for example you can choose to email just the current page as a PDF).

The Select Screen

After adding a new page to an existing document, or after creating a new document, JotNot presents you with the Select screen (shown above).  JotNot automatically selects the document in in the image highlighting it in blue.  The Select screen allows you to select to select any area you wish by dragging the corners of the highlighted blue area.  The corners of the highlighted area are labeled TL for Top Left, TR for Top Right, BR for Bottom Right, and lastly BL for Bottom Left and correspond to the corners of the enhanced processed image.  In the Select screen you can:

  • select the entire image by tapping ,
  • have JotNot detect the document by tapping ,
  • change the processing / enhancement options by tapping ,
  • change the paper size by clicking the button in the lower left (Letter above),
  • skip the enhancement step by tapping Cancel,
  • or process the image by tapping Process.

Settings

JotNot’s Settings screen (shown above) is accessible from the Document List screen by tapping the info (i) button on the top left.  The settings screen allows you to change and customize many of the features and functions JotNot provides.  We will go through each of the features listed under the Settings screen in this section.

The Image Stabilization switch allows you to switch between the default camera and the custom image stabilization camera that JotNot 2.0 offers.
